Crossing tonight!
It was a great run, these past 6 months in the Bahamas. Wow, does time fly! After being bitten by no-see-em’s all night in Allans-Pencicola, we are staging in Great Sale Cay and depart in the next hour. Emergency gear is out and ready, healthy snacks & easy to grab food is prepped, our watch cycle agreed on (I like the mid-night run), float plan filed with USCG Small Vessal Reporting System (SVRS), routing and map softwares updated. We plan to use the new Customs & Border Control smart phone app (ROAM) to check in via video conference! If not, there’s still SVRS.
Route
We’ll depart Great Sale Cay, to Matanilla Shoal, and head West to the Gulf Stream, riding it North until we need to depart it to head North into Charleston, SC.
Good bye Green Turtle Cay
While we were waiting for a weather window, we spent many days walking this lovely island. We attended the Green Turtle Cay Heritage Festival, partaking in good food, listening to local music, listening to lectures, and enjoying the Nassau Bahamas Marching Band. In addition to spending more time with Julie & Mike from SeaJules, we got to know: Tom & Linda (S/V Toucan), John & Linda (S/V Jo-Lin-Dy), Loree & Bill (S/V Aboard Seawolf), Harry & Alicia (S/V JennaBird), Gillian & Dave (JilliQ), and reconnect with Laura & John (S/V Seabreeze) and Diana & Greg (S/V Catsaway) and many others.
